E031 - Dragon Mastery - Green Dragons: Poisoning Minds and Lungs
Tuesday Aug 27, 2019
Tuesday Aug 27, 2019
When the panel of Dungeon Masters FINALLY gets to the topic of Green Dragons, they latch on to some tactics and personality quirks that they find interesting. There are some strange mechanics and odd design choices that they break down, and the DM’s revel in the petty and conniving nature of the big, scaly foes.
SUMMARY: As the boys sit down to go over Green Dragons, they look not only at battle strategies, but also at how and why to split the party, where and how to use Green Dragon lairs, and even how to make one the central evil NPC of the campaign. Listen this week to hear how Green Dragons can be constant harassers, mob bosses, kings, monsters, zoo keepers, and even kobold lairs!

The first 15 or so minutes where you guys discuss changing the social contract to where there is a cap of 8th level sound so 1e to me....

How about a green dragon as a reason to start a campaign? No meeting in a tavern.... No your mentors were "killed" and it left you weak younglings to tell the tales. Instead of quaking you are teaming up to take it down... eventually.

Thanks for the shout out, actually running 1e based up my flawed recollections of campaigns back in the day to add depth. 2e+ is far too easy for my gaming buddy of 20 years to reverse engineer and optimize.

The issue with charts are they are not copywrite protectable, so many game designers try to avoid using them.

So if ettercaps are spider herders how about herding aquatic spiders for the dragons? Now drop the heavy armor fighter near one of those they can survive... Now they have a decision tree.
