The nerdiest of nerds, the wizard is one of the most powerful and versatile classes in 5e, and this week the panel of Dungeon Masters digs into three of the subclasses in the Player’s Handbook. As the DM’s struggle to stay on topic and talk about their likes and dislikes of the class, they break down Abjurers, Diviners, and Illusionists.
Terry, Dan, and Adam channel their inner savants and discuss interesting ideas surrounding the learned mage class, including what to do with down time, how necessary familiars are, and what to do besides a basic old Gandalf stereotype. There’s so much more to the class than stuff old Dumbledores and Elminsters, and the It’s A Mimic! podcast explores not just what it means to be a wizard, but how to breathe new life into the class.

All Gumdrop wanted was to get Santa's autograph. And all Bindlewich wanted was to get drunk. But the fate of Christmas is now at stake, and it's up to one Gnome Bard and one Halfling Rogue/Ranger to brave all the horrors between their cozy pub in Tinkerville and the distant North Pole. From chaos in the streets, to a perilous journey through the mountains, and all the way through Santa's Workshop, these two little friends face almost certain death at every turn! Will they work together? Will they sing together? And most importantly, will they be able to get to the North Pole and save Santa Claus together?
The It's A Mimic! crew has decided to bring you another actual play, and the theme this time: Christmas! Each Dungeon Master takes a turn in the DM hot seat, as character sheets and ridiculous voices travel around the table, all for your holiday entertainment! In this week's episode of the It's A Mimic! podcast, the panel of Dungeon Masters heads out of the city and into the untamed wilderness of Dungeons & Dragons to discover all they can about what makes Rangers a worthwhile class to play. After breaking down the basic class, they explore the Hunter and Beast Master subclasses, and then discuss the Revised Ranger option from Unearthed Arcana. As usual with the class breakdowns, the DM's look at the strengths and weaknesses of the class, before they round out the episode with their own creative builds.
From animal companions to whirlwind attacks, Adam, Dan, and Terry dig into all that the Player's Handbook has to offer on Rangers, including the direction their class-exclusive spells hint toward, and when to start thinking about multiclassing out of the class.
