Today's episode of the It's A Mimic! podcast focuses on the metal warriors that radiate righteousness and lay the smackdown with the power of their smites: Paladins. In Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, the paladin is no longer bound by alignments, or even gods, and the panel of Dungeon Masters stop to look at what that means for the classic holy knights.
Dan, Adam, and Megan each take a close look at one of the subclasses in the Player's Handbook, and as they compare and contrast what the paladin has to offer, they discuss alignment, tenets, the nitty-gritty details of resource management. How powerful is Lay on Hands, really? What spell slot should you not use for Divine Smite? And what constitutes Lawful Stupid. This extra long episode really tears apart the best and the worst of the paladin (as presented in the PHB), and Adam even manages to get Megan to join in his own personal crusade...

The dust has settled on the campaign and its finally Halloween. But, since the story is finished (for now), the group has decided to sit down and decompress after having all of the bejeebuses scared right out of us.
So sit back, relax, and enjoy the nervous laughs and horrified reminiscing of a campaign barely survived.
Using the Call of Cthulhu 7e ruleset, the cast of the It's A Mimic! podcast sit down with three others and explore cosmic horrors in the frozen wilderness in the darkest time of year.

In this episode of the It's A Mimic! podcast, the panel of Dungeon Masters breaks down their favourite genre: Horror. It's one of the most difficult tones to hit around the table, so each of the DM's explain their methods and perspectives, and shine a little light on the darkest of campaign types.
Exploration is key when it comes to injecting horror and dread into a D&D campaign, and Adam, Dan, and Terry talk about planning ahead to lay a foundation for your players, and what you can do to bring different kinds of fear to your Halloween session. Anticipation, specificity, and suspense are all key factors, as well as controlling the room and controlling your own performance. But what do you do when it all goes wrong? How can you recognize when you're affecting a player? And when does it become too much?

But one group stumbles upon a gathering of foul intent, while the other group gets ambushed by a figure in the shadows.
