This episode of the It's A Mimic! podcast introduces a very special guest host, Megan! As she joins Terry and Adam to discuss death in Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, the panel continues their march toward Halloween by looking at what character death is like from both a player's perspective and a Dungeon Master's. Sometimes player character death is inevitable in this fantasy roleplaying game, and the panel of DM's sit try to take some of the mystery away from it.
When a player character dies in D&D, it affects characters, players, DM's, plot lines, themes, relationships, gear, and more. The roundtable touches briefly on ways to use magic (see Episode 37a - Health and Resurrection for a deeper dive), how to handle death mid-combat, running funerals, and trying to stay away from being adversarial at the table. So before tempers run high and Hit Points run low, stop and think about what you're going to do when the grim reaper takes your mini away forever.

In the prelude to the miniseries The Deep Dark of Radiance, Daniel, The Keeper of Arcane Secrets, walks you through his Session Zero. He establishes tone, setting, and boundaries before he sets out to help the players understand the rules and character creation. This special prologue will help players understand how to prepare for a campaign that uses the Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition, as well as provide a glimpse into his own homebrew world.
Carving its way through the beautiful Yukon landscape is The Yukon Adventure, the largest and most extravagant passenger experience in the arctic, often boasting royalty and millionaires among its clientele. It visits the larger cities in the region, but merely slows down as it passes through the smaller mining towns, fishing villages, and military outposts, to give the drunken millionaires and wide-eyed adventurers a glimpse of the simple way that these people live. The exception to this, of course, is Radiance, Yukon, where the Canadian gold rush both sprung to life and gasped its final breath. But as the train approaches, and the sun begins its final descent below the horizon for the next 37 days, an immense evil lurks in the frozen darkness, waiting and watching…
